Dental Services for Children in Kanata

Since they’re not aware of the long-term effects, kids are
less likely to take good care of their dental hygiene. Pair
that with the fact that kids usually love eating candies
and sweets, and it can quickly be obvious as to why
regular dental checkups and cleanings are so important
for kids. At Village Green Dental Care, we know exactly
what it takes to keep your child’s dental health and
hygiene in top shape, and that includes as much
preventive dentistry as possible.

Instead of anticipating or treating dental problems, we
can prevent them from ever happening in the first place.
If you are looking for a dentist in Kanata that specializes
in dental health for kids, visit Village Green Dental Care.
We believe that the better care we take of children’s
health, the healthier their teeth will be as they grow
older. Get in touch with us to book an appointment for
your child or children.

What Types of Treatments Do Pediatric Dentists Provide?

Different Types of Children's Dentistry Treatments

A pediatric dentist is trained to provide your child with comprehensive oral health care that includes the following treatments:

  • Oral Health Exams for Children & Infants
  • Preventative Dental Care
  • Dental Cleanings and Fluoride Treatments
  • Early Assessments for Orthodontics
  • Management of Gum Diseases

The amount of care and experience required to provide dental care for children is much different than dentistry for adults. Children's Dentistry FAQs

It’s recommended that you schedule your child’s first dentist visit shortly after getting their first tooth. The first tooth will typically appear between 6 – 12 months of age.

All the different branches of dentistry (orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery) require specialized training after attending dental school. A pediatric dentist has to take 2-3 years of specialty training that focuses on the unique dental needs of children, infants, and adolescents.

The best way to prepare your child for their first visit to the dentist is to maintain and exude a positive attitude. Let your child know that it’s important to keep their teeth and gums healthy and explain what their appointment is going to include. Our pediatric dentists are trained to handle the fears and anxiety that children often exhibit when visiting the dentist. We are here to help put your child at ease.
In order to prevent cavities and other potential oral complications, it’s recommended that you visit a children’s dentist for a check-up every 6 months. Our team of pediatric dentists can let you know if your child should visit more often based on their oral health.
Before your baby’s first tooth appears, it’s recommended that you clean their gums with a damp, soft washcloth after feeding. Once their first tooth appears, you can start using a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small head.
We recommend scheduling a dental X-ray for your child at around the age of two or three. The first appointment will include images of the front upper and lower teeth which will help familiarize your child with the process. Once the baby teeth are touching each other in the back of the mouth, we recommend getting annual X-rays to make sure that the teeth are properly aligned and that the jaw is healthy.
